I liked that the book communicated a message in a playful and interesting way. I tested the book with a 2 and 6 year old. The 2 year old was interested in the book based on the content and the illustrations from the front cover. She is an active child, so her interest wavered quickly. However, she did return to check in with the progress of the book as we read. The 6 year old was also very interested in the topic of the story and said that she enjoyed the book. She really liked the main character, Sam the cat. This book would be a wonderful addition to my story time in my preschool special education classroom. The concept of similarities and differences and what makes us special is an important area of discovery and learning for a preschool aged student.

This book promotes the value that each individual is unique and special no matter how they look.
