Winner of numerous awards from national educational, parent, and media organizations, ABCmouse.com Early Learning Academy is the leading and most comprehensive digital early learning resource for children ages 2-8. The engaging and easy-to-use program offers a research-validated curriculum for preschool, pre-k, kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade with more than 10,000 individual Learning Activities and more than 850 complete lessons.
Parents or teachers can choose the right level to start at based on age, grade, or ability, and then children progress along our Step-by-Step Learning Path, which guides children from on appropriate lesson to the next, providing extra motivation with the ABCmouse Tickets and Rewards System. Children can also be assigned lessons to work on or choose the learning activities they're most interested in
ABCmouse encompasses all key academic subject areas, including literacy, math, science, health, and social studies, and offers many art- and music- based activities. To date, children have completed more than 5 billion Learning Activities on ABCmouse!
Researchers have completed several large-scale research studies with more than 10,000 children globally, including multiple randomized control trials. This growing body of research shows that ABCmouse accelerates learning and helps children make significant gains in early literacy and math skills. In fact, it has been shown to significantly increase reading skills with as little as 45 minutes of use per week (see https://www.ageoflearning.com/research/).
The ABCmouse curriculum has been developed in close collaboration with a Curriculum Board of nationally recognized educators with decades of classroom experience and experts in language development, child development, and early learning best practices.
Our team of experts develop a comprehensive Scope and Sequence. This process involves collecting and summarizing best-in-class research and expectations about what and how children should learn in each of these grade levels. The Curriculum and Content Teams collaborate to determine how each learning objective will be addressed by specific types of Learning Activities — games, songs, books, puzzles, videos, and art activities. Learning Activities are brought to life by visual artists, designers, writers, editors, composers, musicians, voice-over artists, engineers, and more.
The ABCmouse Curriculum group includes Dr. Rebecca Palacios, a National Teachers Hall of Fame Inductee and co-founder of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS); Kimberly Oliver Burnim, a National Teacher of the Year; Dr. Twila Tardif, professor of psychology and former Associate Dean and Director of the Center for Human Growth and Development at the University of Michigan; and others.
ABCmouse is available to families on a low-cost subscription basis for use on computers, tablets, and smartphones. It is also made available at no cost to teachers for classroom use.
In the classroom, teachers can take full advantage of all that ABCmouse offers, facilitating whole-class, small-group, and individual learning, in addition to engaging families in their children's learning and strengthening the school-home connection. Over the 2018-19 school year, more than 145,000 teachers—including 1 in 4 kindergarten teachers in the U.S.—serving millions of students, used ABCmouse in their classrooms.
The ABCmouse.com website can be used on computers/laptops or used as an app on tablets and smartphones. The ABCmouse app is regularly ranked as the leading children's learning iPad, iPhone, and Android app in both the Kids and Education categories.
ABCmouse subscriptions also include access to a series of ABCmouse mobile apps that complement our main ABCmouse app, such as Mastering Math, an innovative, game-based adaptive early learning app to help young children master early math skills. These apps offer downloadable ABCmouse content for offline use, making ABCmouse even easier for families to access. Review Highlights:
We loved everything about it. This website has everything a child needs to start reading or simply support current reading fluency and comprehension.
We really enjoyed ABCmouse! My 7-year-old and I started by making our avatar. After spending way too long on that adventure, we finally made it to the intro video. It was a great overview as to what is offered on the site. We began by watching a video about sentence writing. It was a great middle ages video about the use of punctuation and how it affects meaning and reader tonality. Although my boy knew about this, it was good for him to cover it again. We went further and enjoyed multiple thematic activities that supported the topic of sentence writing. It was engaging for my boy and I think part of it is because he has the choice as to whether he wants to revisit something, do something completely different, or choose between a game, reading or a video. He ended up earning tickets that he started to spend right away, but then decided to hold on to a few and build his avatar and hamster cage. I can't believe it hosts 850 activities! There is so much to explore! What's really outstanding is that the reading program is complete and supports early letter identification and phonics lessons all the way up through reading paragraphs and stories. The math, science and art elements are filled with fun games, videos, books, and puzzles too! I highly recommend ABCmouse for any parent or teacher looking to purchase an online tool to develop reading, science, math or art skills. Oh and teachers, there are countless printables too!
